Baptism

Why is it that people have such a hard time understanding about baptism. Jesus said in Mark 16:16, “He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.” That should really put an end to all discussion – we need to be baptised!

Part of the problem is an understanding of what baptism is: it is immersion in water – plain and simple. We can see this in Acts 8:38-39 when the Ethiopian was baptised.

The reason we have to be baptised is because baptism is how we gain forgiveness of sins. Acts 2:28 tells us, “Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’”

Baptism is for the forgiveness of sins. If we are not baptised we cannot have forgiveness – we cannot be saved.

Please, if you have any ideas or questions – just put a comment on the blog

Keep safe.

Hello again Keith.
You're definitely correct about baptism and it's particular problems. I posted a lesson called, "What defines a Christian Woman?" It was Part One. Anyway, the main point was becoming a Christian and, despite all the points I mentioned,(of God's plan), the one that got the most contraversy was baptism. (You might like to see it. It was an interesting discussion.)God's word is so simple, and if not...studying with Christians who are knowledgeable will help. There is no excuse for ignoring God's word. There will always be those who need to do things the hard way, the wrong way, and subsequently are punished for it. All we can do is keep spreading His Word and praying for their souls. We may not pursuade them, but God can.

God's blessings to you as you spread His Word!

Thanks Tammy for your encouragment.

I don't know why people have such a problem with baptism. It is clearly stated in the Bible and all the 1st Century Christians we read of in the New Testament were baptised when they were converted.

I guess it comes down to Satan. if he can put false teaching in people hearts they are not going to obey God.

Have a great one.
