Faith, Family and Food

Many people have their priorities seeming askew from where they ought to be. The quest is still for the mighty dollar and people are still worshipping “self”. Not only is this manner of life supremely selfish, it is destined for failure.

If you are always seeking for “more” you are going to continually live in a state of disappointment, because there will always be more things to get. If you are striving for more money, you will never get enough, its like grasping for water.

Where should our priorities really be? For what should we really be striving for in this life? What should we put as most important to us?

I’ll put it to you that it should be Faith, then Family and lastly Food.

Let me explain that. In Matthew 6:33 we read, ““But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” The first thing in our lives needs to be God. He is the Supreme Being. He is the giver of life. He is the sustainer of life. He is the giver of eternal life. There is none other greater than God. God and our Faith needs to come first in our lives. All other things need to follow after.

Next it’s Family.

Many people will criticise me for this saying, “My family comes first, before anything else. I would sacrifice all for my family and give my life for my family. There is nothing that comes before my family” These are indeed noble words, but are they in our family’s best interests.

Again, let me explain. In Matthew 10:37 we read “He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. Again we see we have to put God first.

Of course the care of our family is so important. Their physical well being is very important but the “spiritual well being” is of far more importance than. To put God first in our family is to put our family on the road to salvation.

The Bible makes it clear how a Christian family should to live. Ephesians 5:22 – 6:4 gives us God’s plan for the family. God gave us the family, his plan is the best way for the family to work. There is order there, it may not be too popular today, but it is the best way. It is filled with love, order, respect discipline and instruction. Study throught he passage yourself and tell me what you think.

Our final priority then needs to be Food

In referring to food, really I am talking about all our physical needs, and wants. Read Matt 6:25-34. If we have our priorities right, God will care for us.

I say, put God first in all things, then our families and then we need not worry about all the rest.

Think on these things.

Well said. It sometimes takes awhile for us to learn to put God first, but when we do, everything else falls into place. As someone has said, "Keep the main thing, the main thing."
